Introduction / chairman's message

As one of the earliest departments established in the National Taiwan University, the Department of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering (DBSE) not only has its glory tradition, but also conducts leading-edge teaching and research activities. Whether you are interested in soil and water resources engineering, bioenvironmental technology, or environmental informatics and systems engineering, our department offers you the best facilities and teaching and research environment with a wide variety of options.
In the last century we have seen fast advances of technology, vast consumption of earth resources, and quick degradation of our environmental quality. It is now evident that sustainable development of our society requires multi-disciplinary technology integration. Therefore, the goal of teaching and research activities in our department aims to integrate technologies in soil and water resources engineering, bioenvironmental technology, and environmental informatics and risk management, through an environmental system perspective, and to facilitate students with up-to-date, problem-solving knowledge and vision.

In addition to high quality teaching, our faculty members also maintain close collaboration with many government agencies and private engineering/consulting companies. Our alumni have had outstanding professional performances in public/private sectors and research institutes in diversified fields such as soil and water resources, environmental engineering, information industry, and soil and water conservancy. We look forward to answering any questions you may have about our department. Please feel free to contact us to obtain additional materials or to schedule a personal visit to our facility. We look forward to seeing you.
